How to Assemble a Three-Tier Wedding Cake
Baking and wedding supply shops are the perfect place to look for pillared cake stands. These handy tools allow you to easily assemble a three-tier wedding cake without having to mess with pushing dowels through the layers and threading them into individual pillars, a skill that is harder than it looks. It's best to assemble the cake directly onto the table that will hold it at the reception. If you must assemble the cake elsewhere before moving it to its final resting place, make certain to use a heavy sheet of plywood as the base.
Things You'll Need

1
Clean the area where the cake will reside for the reception, and make sure your base cake board fits. If it doesn't, use the scissors to trim it to an appropriate size. It must be big enough to hold the bottom layer of your three-tier cake.

2
Place the first layer of cake on the base cake board. You should have already decorate the cake, and you will need to be careful not to disturb the icing and other adornments while assembling the final wedding cake.

Take care while placing the first cake stand on the bottom layer of the cake. It should sit safely in the center, and the frosting will help hold it in place. Put the base cake board that will hold the second layer onto the top of the stand. Use additional frosting to help it stay steady on top of the stand pillars.

4
Put the second layer of cake on the board, and then repeat steps 2 and 3 until the top layer is in place. When everything is fully assembled, complete any frosting and decorative touch-ups that you need to do.

5
Make a more simple three-tier wedding cake by baking three different sizes of cake and stacking them on top of each other in order of descending size. This route is a little less complicated and still results in a majestic-looking confection.
