How to Remove Egg From the Exterior of a House
Egging houses, or throwing raw eggs at homes, is a prank kids and teenagers play. While it may be funny to the person who doesn't have to clean up the mess, it's no laughing matter to homeowners. Egg dries fairly quickly; and once it's dry, it can be time-consuming and difficult to remove the egg without damaging the exterior or paint on the home. What's more, if the egg isn't removed promptly, it can begin to stink and attract bugs. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Liquid dish soap
- Sponge
- Lubricating spray
- Paint thinner
- Soft cloth
- Paint scraper or butter knife
- Scrubbing brush
Instructions

Liquid Dish Soap

Combine two cups hot sink water with 1 tbsp. liquid dish soap.

Dip a sponge in the soapy mixture. Rub the soap onto the egg. Drench the area with the soapy water. Allow the water to sit on the egg for two minutes.

Use a butter knife or paint scraper to try to lift the egg. Remove the loosened pieces of egg. Continue wetting and lifting the egg as needed until the egg is removed completely.

Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth to remove any remaining soap or egg residue.
Lubricating Spray

Spray a liberal amount of lubricating spray over the egg. Allow it to soak into the egg for a few minutes.

Use a butter knife or paint scraper to try to lift the egg. Remove loosened pieces of the egg. Continue spraying the lubricating spray and lifting the egg as needed.

Dampen a cloth in water. Wipe down the home's exterior to remove lubricating spray and egg residue.
Paint Thinner

Consider paint thinner as a last resort. Using paint thinner on the exterior of the home could result in paint removal or discoloration. Dip a cloth in paint thinner and dab the thinner onto the egg.

Allow the paint thinner to work on the egg for five minutes.

Fill a bucket with warm water. Dip a cleaning brush into the warm water and vigorously brush the wall to remove the egg and paint thinner. Repeat the process as needed until the egg is gone.

Using paint thinner on the exterior of the home could result in paint removal or discoloration.
Never allow soapy water to dry on vinyl house siding before it can be rinsed off.
