How to Troubleshoot a Sharp Microwave
Microwaves are used as a fast alternative to the convection oven. When your microwave won’t power on or heat your food, you could be tempted to rush out and buy a new one. Most microwaves can be fixed with little hassle and a couple of tools. You can get to the bottom of the problem with just a couple minutes with the appliance on hand. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet in your kitchen.

Run your fingers up and down the power cord to feel for frays or breaks in the cord. A fray or break in the cord can prevent power from getting to the unit.

Check the fuse on the back of the microwave to see if it has burned out. Replace the fuse if needed.

Clean any dust off of the fan motor on the back of the microwave. Use a damp paper towel to wipe the dust off of the fan blades and casing.

Close the door of the microwave to determine if it is shutting fully. Sometimes the latches on a microwave door can bend and prevent the door from shutting properly. Replace the latch if needed.

Check the capacitor on the back of the microwave. Replace the capacitor on the microwave if the fuse keeps burning out.

Tips & Warnings
Replacement fuses and capacitors can be found at local hardware stores.
If you find a fray or break in the power cord, replace the cord immediately to avoid electrical fires.
