How to Play Overlapping Movie Clips in Flash MX

Flash MX is a computer program that you can use to create Flash-based animation videos. Flash MX allows you to create these videos similar to the way Adobe Photoshop allows you to create images; you import new objects as "layers" and work from there. If two of your movie clips are overlapping in Flash MX, you just need to adjust where they are in the template by adjusting them by layer.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click on your Flash MX project file to open it up inside the program. You will see the project exactly the way it was the last time you saved it.

    • 2

Click on the first overlapping movie object in the "Layers" window. This will allow you to work only with the layer that element is on.

    • 3

Click on the movie clip and drag it off of the one it is overlapping.

    • 4

Click on the second of the two overlapping movie clips in the "Layers" window.

    • 5

Click on this second movie clip in the main Flash MX window and drag it farther away from the clip it was overlapping. These two elements no longer overlap, and you can continue creating your Flash-based video.
