How to Write Placecards for Wedding Reception
Place cards at a wedding keep the reception seating organized. They are easy to make and let guests know where to sit at the reception. It's important to number or name each reception table so the guests know which table is which. When you know what to write on each place card, it is a simple process that helps guests find their seats.
Instructions

1
Cut out a square shape from card stock. The bigger the square, the larger the place card will be.
-
2
Fold the square in half lengthwise, so the card can stand on its own.

3
Write down a guest's name on one side of the place card. If the person has sent in an RSVP for two, then write the other guest's name if you know it. If you don't know who the date will be, then write "and Guest." If the couple is married, then write "Mr. and Mrs." before the husband's last name. If an unmarried couple is coming, write the person who knows the groom or bride best first. If the couple knows the bride and groom equally well, write the two names in alphabetical order.

4
Write the table number or name the guest is assigned to on the other side of the place card.
-
5
Alphabetize the place cards, so guests can find them quickly.

Tips & Warnings

Insert place cards in small picture frames, which guests can take home as wedding favors. If you choose this option, be sure to write the table name and number on the same side of the card as the guests' names.
