No-Sew Fleece Baby Blanket Instructions
Fleece no-sew projects are very popular because they're easy and quick. Fleece lends itself to no-sew projects because the material doesn't fray along cut, unfinished edges. You can find fleece at any fabric store, and it's available in a wide range of colors and patterns. Although most fleece fabric is sold in 58-inch widths, some stores sell 48-inch fleece panels with a central design and border. You can make a no-sew fleece baby blanket in about an hour.
Things You'll Need
- 2 pieces of fleece, 48" by 58"
- Dressmaker pins
- Ruler
- Fabric pencil
- Sewing scissors
Instructions
-
-
1
Prewash your fabric according to the manufacturer's instructions.
-
2
Pin fabric pieces together to prevent slippage. Layer the two pieces of fleece together, aligning edges and pinning them in place.
-
-
3
With your ruler and fabric pencil, measure and mark a 5-inch by 5-inch square at each corner of the fabric. Cut the squares out of the panels with sewing scissors.
-
4
Measure and mark 1-inch increments along all four edges of both pieces of fleece.
-
5
Mark a horizontal line 5 inches from the edge on all four sides (parallel to the edge). Then mark vertical lines running from the edge to the horizontal line at each 1-inch increment mark.
-
6
Use sewing scissors to make precise cuts in fabric. Cut fringe on all four sides by cutting each vertical line from the edge to the horizontal line 5 inches from the edge.
-
7
Starting at one corner, tie the first fringe piece on the front panel to the first fringe piece on the back panel in a square knot.
-
8
Continue tying front and back fringe pieces together along all four sides. Remove the pins.
