How to Make a Nerf Gun Shoot Harder

All Nerf brand weapons with extruded barrels are inhibited from firing with the full intensity that they possess. You can make a Nerf gun shoot harder by removing the restrictor rod that is placed inside of the gun’s barrel. A few household tools and about a half an hour of your time is all that is needed. Making the Nerf gun able to fire harder will void any warranty that may be in place by the manufacturer.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the tip of your drill into the hole at the end of the barrel. Slowly drill into the barrel for three seconds. Pull the drill bit out of the barrel to remove the restrictor rod and base now attached to the drill bit from inside of the barrel.

    • 2

Clamp the jaws of the pliers around the base of the restrictor rod. Twist the jaws of the pliers to break the rod off the base.

    • 3

Drill a hole through the center of the restrictor rod’s base with the portable drill.

    • 4

Blow out the hole in the base with compressed air.

    • 5

Insert the base back into the hole in the front of the barrel. Push the base into the hole using the tip of the flat head screwdriver.

    • 6

Place a Nerf dart into the barrel and test the distance that it now will shoot.
