How to Enable a Web Client Service

The WebClient service is included as part of the Windows operating system and enables it to work with Internet-enabled files. Should this service be disabled or turned off on your computer, Windows would be unable to run applications that depend on this service. Also, the operating system itself would be unable to manipulate any Internet-enabled files.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on "Start," click on "Run" and then type "services.msc" into the Run window.

    • 2

Press "Enter" to open the Services Configuration Utility.

    • 3

Scroll through the list of services until you see the Web Client service.

    • 4

Right-click on the service and click "Properties."

    • 5

Choose "Enabled" as the start-up type and then click "OK" to turn on the service.
