How to Make Ketchup Easily
Ketchup is a common staple in most kitchens. According to the Global Gourmet, 97 percent of Americans keep ketchup in their homes, and each person consumes an average of three bottles of ketchup per year. People use it on French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs and various other foods. Most people probably never considered making their own ketchup. Homemade ketchup is easy, and will deliver a fresh taste. Things You'll Need
- 6 oz. canned tomato paste
- Mixing bowl
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tbsp. vinegar
- ¼ tsp. dry mustard
- ¼ tsp. cinnamon
- ¼ tsp. salt
- Pinch of cloves
- Pinch of all-spice
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- Wire whisk
- Pint-sized air-tight container

Pour 6 oz. of canned tomato paste into a mixing bowl.

Add ¼ cup of water, 2 tbsp. vinegar, ¼ tsp. dry mustard, ¼ tsp. cinnamon, ¼ tsp. salt, a pinch of cloves, a pinch of all-spice, a pinch of cayenne pepper and ¼ cup of brown sugar. Thoroughly combine the ingredients with a wire whisk.

Transfer the mixture to a pint-sized, air-tight container. Put it in the refrigerator overnight to chill before using.

Tips & Warnings
Omit the salt from the recipe if you are looking for a sodium-free ketchup.
If you want to reduce the amount of sugar, use 1 tsp. of molasses and ¼ cup of artificial sweetener instead of the brown sugar.
This recipe makes 12 oz. of ketchup.
