Instructions

  1. Homemad Liquid Fabric Softener

    • 1

In a bucket, combine two cups of hot water with one cup of baking soda and stir thoroughly to dissolve the powder.

    • 2

Slowly stir in one cup of vinegar. Do this over the sink or bathtub as the baking soda and vinegar will produce a foaming reaction.

    • 3

Use a funnel to transfer the mixture to an empty bottle with a lid. Use ¼ cup of the fabric softener liquid in the rinse cycle of each load of laundry.

    Homemade Fabric Softener Sheets

    • 4

Lay a yard of flannel fabric onto a flat surface. Cut the flannel into sections measuring three inches by five inches.

    • 5

Place the flannel sections in a stack in an empty 15-ounce plastic container with a lid. In a separate bowl, mix four tablespoons of liquid fabric softener —you can use the recipe above or use commercial liquid fabric softener—and 10 tablespoons of water.

    • 6

Pour the liquid fabric softener over the flannel strips. Put the lid on the container and shake it up well. Let the mixture sit for two to three days before using. Use one strip per dryer load. Squeeze out excess liquid before putting in the dryer.
