How to Make Keychains

Beads are popular for handmade keychains.

Keychain making is a simple craft project for kids. If you have a birthday party or church group with lots of kids, provide beads in different shapes and sizes and let them get creative making their own keychains. Use alphabet beads to spell names or funny phrases, sparkly beads and different types of charms. Keychains make good gifts for friends or teachers, or girls can make "best friends" keychains.

Things You'll Need

• 8-inch leather or plastic cord
• Scissors
• Keyring
• Beads

Instructions

1. Cut 8-inch pieces of cording. Create a loop at one end and loop it over the keyring. Pull the two ends through the loop to make a knot that will secure the cord to the keyring.

2. Add beads to the cording. Spell out words, or use shiny crystals or colorful pony beads. Leave enough room at the end of the cord to tie off the chord.

3. Tie knots at the end of each cord to keep the beads from falling off.
