Refrigerator coils are not visible during normal operation of the refrigerator, and can be overlooked during cleaning. The GE Model GSS25JFMC side by side refrigerator features condenser coils located at the base of the unit, behind a grille. Twice yearly cleaning of the coils will keep the refrigerator running properly and remove allergen inducing dust from your home. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Screw driver
  • Refrigerator coil brush
  • Garbage bag

Instructions

      Grasp the refrigerator on both sides from the front. Pull straight towards you to move the refrigerator out from the wall. Disconnect the power cord from the outlet.

      Open both the refrigerator and freezer doors. Locate the grille at the base of the refrigerator on the front face. Use a screw driver to remove the screw at either end of the grille holding it in place. Grasp the grille with a hand at either end and pull straight out to remove.

      Insert a refrigerator coil brush beneath the exposed coils. Move the brush in a side to side and forwards and backwards motion to clean dust and debris from the coils. Remove the brush and shake into a garbage bag. Pick off large pieces of clinging dust and debris with your hands and discard. Repeat the cleaning over the top surface of the coils.
