How to Make Cute Angel Ornaments

There are many different ways to make angel ornaments.

As angel crafts increase in popularity, clever crafters are finding new ways to make angel ornaments. Angel ornaments are made from a array of materials and typically share a basic structural similarity. They consist of a round or oval head, triangular shaped body, wings, and a halo. Crafters use adhesive, wire, or needle and thread to put the angel pieces together. When making an angel, it’s necessary to use materials that complement each other in size, color and texture.

Instructions

1. Look for a triangular shaped object for the angel’s body, such as a shell, small upside down pot, paper fan, pine cone, bell, or material folded like a skirt.

2. Pair an appropriate head with the body, one that is not too large or small. This might be a small foam ball, a large bead or button, or a small glass Christmas tree ball. Another option is to use an old-fashioned wooden clothespin, with the round top as the angel’s head. The vertical part of the pin acts as a support for the fabric, lace or ribbon body.

3. Secure the head to the top of the body, using adhesive, wire, thread, or a method appropriate for the materials you have selected.

4. Create wings for the back of the angel’s body, using feathers, ribbon tied into a bow, or wire rimmed ribbon. Secure the wings to the back of the angel’s body using an adhesive.

5. Make a halo by twisting decorative wire into a ring, or by using a costume jewelry gold colored ring. Another option is to make a circle from a small piece of gold ribbon.

6. Affix the halo to the top of the angel’s head. Before adding the angel, consider adding material for the angel’s hair, such as white gauze.

7. Draw, paint or glue features onto the angel’s face, if desired.

8. Affix a small fastener on the back of the angel, for hanging.
