Instructions

    • 1

Wear protective eye glasses, a face mask and rubber gloves to protect yourself from mildew. Mildew releases toxic spores that can be easily inhaled through the lungs.

    • 2

Take the garment outdoors and brush as much of the mildew off as possible with a soft brush. If you can’t go outside, brush the mildew over a newspaper, and roll it up and discard it when you’re done.

    • 3

Spot treat the mildew stain with 2 tbsp. of non-chlorine bleach. Let the garment soak for 30 minutes.

    • 4

Wash the garment with normal laundry detergent on the highest temperature setting your washer has. When it’s done washing, inspect the clothing for any remaining mildew stains. If so, wash the garment again.

    • 5

Dry the clothing on the highest temperature your dryer offers. This will kill any remaining mildew germs. Remove protective wear.

Tips & Warnings

  • Prevent future mildew problems by keeping your home well-ventilated and dry. Keep clothes and other fabrics dry.
