Instructions

    • 1

Slide a stud finder across the ceiling to locate the ceiling joists in the area where you want to install a swag lamp. Mark the location of the joist with painter’s tape.

    • 2

Drill a pilot hole into the ceiling joist using a 3/16-inch wood drill bit. Twist the swag hook into the pilot hole until it is snug against the ceiling. Use a toggle bolt to install a swag hook if you are unable to locate a joist. Drill a hole in the drywall large enough to accommodate the toggle bolt with the flaps closed. Thread the toggle bolt through the opening and twist the hook until snug against the ceiling.

    • 3

Hang a second swag hook near the wall and above the outlet where the swag lamp plugs into the wall. Repeat the process in step 2 to install the second hook.

    • 4

Hang your swag lamp chain from the first hook at the height you desire. Drape the chain from the first hook and hang the chain on the second hook above the outlet. Plug the swag lamp into the wall outlet.
