How to Customize Your Apple Laptop Skin

Make your MacBook stand out with a custom designed skin.

Customizable skins have become increasingly popular with electronics owners for many reasons. Your Apple laptop can get a whole new look by adding a relatively inexpensive peel-and-stick skin. There are many sites available that can give you the tools to customize skins with your own pictures, text and graphics. The skins are attractive and provide scratch protection to the outside of your Apple laptop, ensuring that your device stands out. Once your customized skin arrives, simply remove the protective backing and apply it to your laptop.

SkinIt

1. Launch your computer's Internet browser and go to Skinit (see "References.")

2. Click the "Devices" tab, then choose "Laptops." Click "Apple" to browse through available Apple laptops, and choose your device by clicking its name.

3. Browse through the available skin designs by clicking a category or entering text in the "Search Designs" box. Click on your desired design to begin personalizing it, or choose "Create Your Own" to upload a picture stored on your computer.

4. Preview the picture or design you have chosen as it is displayed on your screen. You may click the "View Larger" button in the upper left-hand corner to see a larger picture of your design if desired. If you do not wish to add any additional text or images, click "Add To Cart." Otherwise, click "Customize It." View the tutorials if desired, then click "Continue To Customizer."

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to add text, graphics or shapes to your laptop skin. When you are satisfied with your skin, click "Add To Cart."

6. Click the orange "Checkout" button near the bottom of the page, or choose "Checkout with PayPal" if you have a PayPal account you wish to use. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter your name, billing and shipping address, payment information and desired shipping method. Review the information you entered to complete your purchase.

Unique Skins

1. Open your computer's Internet browser and navigate to Unique Skins (see "References.")

2. Click the "Laptops Skins" link, then choose "Apple."

3. Browse through the available options, and choose the "Design" link next to your desired choice.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to customize your laptop skin. Choose a photo from the website or upload your own, then add text if desired. Click "Add To Cart" when you are satisfied with your design and ready to purchase it.

5. Preview your selection as well as the quantity and total price, then click "Proceed to Checkout." Follow the on-screen instructions to enter in your checkout and payment information.

Schtickers

1. Launch your Internet browser and navigate to the Schtickers website (see "References.")

2. Click "Laptop Skins."

3. Browse through the available designs and select your desired skin by clicking the thumbnail. You can also click the "Create Your Own" link to upload your own design. Click "Get Started." Follow the on-screen instructions to choose a background, upload a photo and add graphics and text.

4. Click "Save/Preview" when you are satisfied with your skin.

5. Click the radio button next to "Mac" or "Custom Size." Enter in the make and model of your Apple laptop. You may also enter in the dimensions of your laptop if desired. Click "Add To Cart." Edit the quantities if desired, then click "Checkout."

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter in your shipping and payment information and complete your order.
