How to Mount Maps on Posterboard

Mount a map on poster board to display it.

Maps alone are thin, easily ripped and they have visible creases where they are folded. These characteristics make maps difficult to hang. You can mount a map onto a poster board to strengthen and smooth it out, and then hang it on a wall with tacks or any other method you choose. Use your mounted map as a decoration at home, to document the places you have been or as an educational tool for students learning geography.

Instructions

    • 1

Unfold your map and lay it upside down on a flat smooth surface.

    • 2

Spray the back of the map with spray adhesive evenly.

    • 3

Place the poster board face-down onto the map. Flip over the board and poster together.

    • 4

Straighten the map to center it before the glue dries.

    • 5

Use a clean plastic putty knife to smooth out any bubbles or creases. Swipe the putty knife across the surface carefully to avoid ripping the map.
