How to Put on a New Countertop
A countertop in any room of your home is not only functional but a focal point. So when putting in a new countertop, you will want it to look like a professional installed it. The easiest approach is to purchase a custom made-to-measure laminate or acrylic countertop from your local building supply store to place over the top of your cabinets. Run a bead of silicone caulk along the upper edge of the base cabinets using the caulking gun.

Place some wooden dowels across the bead of caulk and along the length of the cabinet. This will prevent the caulk from smearing when you insert the countertop.

Place the countertop on top of the dowels.

Pull the dowels out carefully so the countertop drops into place and adheres to the caulk.
