Repairing nail holes in a metal roof is an inexpensive alternative to replacing portions of the roof. Repairing holes in a roof requires that you to go on the roof itself, so if this is a problem, hire a professional to do the repairs.

Things You'll Need

  • Urethane caulk
  • Roofing cement
  • Putty knife
  • Ladder
  • Sheet metal
  • Tin snips
  • Caulk gun
  • Rag

Use the putty knife to fill the whole with putty cement.

Cut a 4 inch square out of the sheet metal using the tin snips.

Apply urethane caulk using the caulk gun to the back of the square of sheet metal and place it over the putty-filled hole.

Wipe away the excess caulk.
