When liquids come in contact with unfinished wood flooring, the wood absorbs the liquid, which can lead to stains and water damage. When dog urine penetrates unfinished wood floors, not only can it stain and damage the wood, but it can leave a lingering smell that can be difficult to remove. Dog urine should be cleaned as soon as it is spotted. If the stain becomes set in the wood, it can take several attempts to remove both the stain and smell.

Step 1
Pour hydrogen peroxide slowly over the stain. Allow the hydrogen peroxide to soak into the wood.

Dampen a rag with hydrogen peroxide. The rag should be damp, not dripping wet. Place the rag directly over the stain.
Step 3
Lay a piece of plastic wrap over the rag and stained area. This allows the area to remain moist and the hydrogen peroxide to work into the stain. Let it sit overnight.

Remove the plastic wrap and rag in the morning. The stain should be lighter or removed. Continue this process until the stain is fully removed.
Removing Smells
Step 1
Combine equal parts warm water and vinegar in a spray bottle.
Step 2
Spray the mixture directly where the dog urinated. Allow it to work into the area for five minutes.
Step 3
Wipe the vinegar away with a damp cloth.
Step 4
Use a towel to dry the floor and prevent water spots.
Step 5
Sprinkle baking soda liberally over the area. Allow it to sit on the area and absorb odors for an hour. Use a broom to sweep away the baking soda.
