When producing a CD, one of the most expensive aspects of production is the design and printing of the CD packaging. This is not usually an issue for commercially produced CDs, the producers and manufacturers of which have thousands of dollars to spend on production. For many up and coming musicians, this can be a major impedance on, and sometimes a deterrent to, self-production because of the high cost. Designing and printing your own CD insert is a cost effective alternative to commercial printing.
Things You'll Need
- Adobe Photoshop software
- Photo paper
- X-acto knife
Open Adobe Photoshop, and create a new document. Set the size of the document to 4.75 inches x 4.75 inches.
Design the insert on the blank stage. Once complete, print out the insert onto the photo paper.
Carefully use the X-acto knife to cut along the edges of the design. Once the design is completely cut out, remove it from the rest of the paper.
Insert the cut out design into the front section of the CD jewel case.
Tips & Warnings
- Use a ruler or straight edge to help cut out each design.
