How to Remove RV Siding

How to Remove RV Siding thumbnail
Removing RV siding may require more than one helper.

If the siding on your RV needs an updated look or is damaged, you may want to remove and replace it with new siding. This is not a job for one person since the metal sheets can be up to 20 feet long. In some cases, you may need an extra set of hands. For longer RVs, you may need a couple of people to help you out.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any lights from the RV that may be covering the siding. You can use a flathead screwdriver to pop off the light's lens. Remove the light bulb.

    • 2

Remove the staples holding the side of the siding in place. Use a flathead screwdriver or crowbar to pry the staples up and off the siding.

    • 3

Straighten the folded metal on the corners of the RV. This part overlaps every sheet of siding. Insert a putty knife underneath the fold and tap the knife lightly with a hammer to straighten the metal. You will have to repeat this process on the opposite corners.

    • 4

Pop off the staples from the top and bottom of the siding using a flathead screwdriver or crowbar. These are the last pieces holding the siding in place. Be careful when removing the last staple as the siding may slide off.
