How to Troubleshoot an Intermatic Pool Pump Timer
Problems with Intermatic pool pump timers can be related to a blank display, the timer not responding to programming, the timer not functioning as programmed and the pool pump being on all the time. Intermatic pool pump timers will allow you to review the programming to verify that the timer is indeed programmed correctly. The timer also allows you to temporarily override any programming. Replace the battery if there’s nothing on the display. The battery may be discharged. If your pool pump timer is installed outdoors, make sure the battery cover is properly attached after replacing the battery, so water can’t infiltrate.

Press the clear button to clear the memory if the timer won’t respond to programming. The clear button is the button marked “P” with an X through it. Reprogram the timer.

Press the "Select" button to move the indicator bar over to “Auto” on the display if the timer won’t turn on the pump. After you have finished programming the time, and on and off times, complete the programming by pressing "Select" and getting the timer to display “Auto.” When you see the selector bar under “Auto,” the timer is programmed and ready to go.

Follow the procedure in Step 3 if the pump is on all the time. The timer hasn’t gone into “Auto” mode.

Review the programming. Press the "Timer" button repeatedly to toggle through all the programming like time-of-day and the on/off times. When you’re done reviewing the programming, press the "Clock" button to get back to time-of-day on the display.

Press the "Select" button until the indicator bar is under "Off" or "On" to temporarily override the programming and force the pump off or on.
