Whether the deer are munching on your roses or you just got a new puppy, you may need to erect fencing quickly and affordably. One of the most affordable and effective forms of containment fencing is polypropylene mesh. Resistant to moisture and UV rays, polypropylene is a plastic material that is lightweight, yet durable. Polypropylene is sold on easy-to-manage rolls and comes in heights ranging from 4 to 8 feet. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Spray paint or stakes and string
  • Steel fence posts
  • Sledgehammer
  • Monofilament guide wire
  • Polypropylene mesh
  • Fencing staples
  • Staple gun
  • Cable ties

Instructions

    • 1

      Mark the fence line with spray paint or by using stakes and string.

      Mark sites for the fence posts every 6 feet for tall fences or every 8 feet for short fences. Mark sites between existing structures that the fence can connect to, like the house, a shed or trees.

      Hammer steel fence posts into the ground at the marked post sites using a sledgehammer.

      String a monofilament guide wire through the top holes of the fence posts. Pull it tight and tie it off at the fence ends.

      Unroll the mesh fencing. Stretch the mesh tightly around the fence posts and existing structures. Secure it by stapling it to the side of the house, the shed and the trees with fencing staples and a staple gun, and wiring it to the fence posts and guide wire with cable ties.
