You can pair up to seven PS3 controllers to a single console.

The Sixaxis and Dual Shock 3 controllers for Playstation 3 have to be paired or synchronized with a Playstation 3 console before you can use them to control the system. Generally, you only have to synchronize a controller once, after purchasing it or during your initial system setup.

  • Playstation 3 controller
  • USB to Mini USB cable

      Connect the PS3 controller to your PS3 using the USB to Mini USB cable. One of these cables should have been included with your PS3 when you purchased it.

      Press the "PS" button at the center of the controller. It is a large, circular button with a transparent face.

      Wait for the controller's indicator lights to finish flashing. The red indicator lights on the controller will flash briefly, then light up solidly. When they are finished flashing, the syncronization is complete.
