Select the flowers you want to create confetti out of; choose colors that will complement your wedding decor. If you want the confetti pieces to be long and slender, lilies are ideal flowers to use; for rounder or slightly heart-shaped confetti, choose tulips or roses. For real flowers, keep the blooms at room temperature or in the refrigerator until you are ready to create the confetti so that the flowers will not become brown and wilted. If you're using synthetic flowers, you can find petals at your local craft store so you don't have to tear the synthetic flowers apart.

Form the confetti in the color(s) that you want. You can visit your local floral shop to purchase flowers in the shades that match your wedding colors, or you can dye real flower petals. To dye the flowers, use a glass vase and fill it up to the five or six inch mark with water. Add a few drops of food coloring, and swish the water around in the vase to distribute the color. Place the cut-stem flowers of your choice into the vase and allow the flowers to sit for a few days, so that the color can be absorbed by the stems and leaves, and transferred to the petals. Place the flower petals back in the refrigerator, in a room where you know the petals will not get too hot or too cold so their color and texture will be preserved.

Decorate the petals further by placing them in a large bag and sprinkling glitter on them. Shake the bag so that all the petals are dusted with glitter. Silk pouches are ideal for elegant weddings, and small mesh bags in the color(s) of your choice that expose the flower petals are ideal as well. Arrange the pouches on a table or in a decorative basket outside of the ceremony site, so they can be given to guests and you can be showered with confetti as you leave the wedding chapel. Use additional flower petal confetti to sprinkle around the centerpieces of your reception tables to make the scene especially appealing.
