How To Install The Abus Filebar
An essential component to any office where physical records are kept is a filing cabinet. Due to the sensitive nature of many documents, most of these cabinets come standard with a lock and key. Unfortunately, these locks might not offer enough protection when confronted with enough force. The Abus file bar provides extra protection against prying and jimmying. Both the Abus bar and its hinges are made of 16-gauge steel. The installation is not only simple and straightforward; it will be completed in a matter of minutes without opening the cabinet or jostling its contents.

1
Affix the provided knob onto the inner part of the Abus bar with provided screw. Reverse the position of the knob according to what side of the cabinet you wish to put your file bar. For example, if you want the file bar to be placed on the left-hand side of the cabinet, the stop on the handle needs to be facing up. Secure the alignment pin on the knob to the inner bar.

2
Drill an opening on the front of your cabinet using a power drill and a .104 diameter drill bit. Drill the opening 5-1/8 inches from the top of the file cabinet and 1/4 inch to the left or right of the top drawer.

3
Secure the file bar in place by drilling in the provided sheet metal screws. Do not use a pan head or round head screw.
-
4
Drill the remaining holes by employing the Abus bar hinge as a locator.
-
5
Screw your remaining sheet metal screws in place while keeping the hinges firmly placed against the file cabinet. Lock the Abus file bar with a professional grade padlock.
