How to Clean a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner

Unhook the small latch located at the base of the handle to release the handle from the dust bin. Remove the round filter from the bin, rinse it thoroughly under running water until all of the dirt has been removed. Allow the filter to dry for 24 hours. It is important the filter be completely dry before placing it back in the vacuum. Replace the filter once dry.

Go outside and gently tap the cyclone against the side of a trash bin to loosen and remove dirt particles. Blow out the dust with a can of compressed air if the tapping method is taking too long. Use a leaf blower for more power, if you prefer.

Release the hose from the back of the vacuum and check for dirt and dust by gently tapping on a solid surface. Check for and remove debris from the small hose that connects from the floor brush bin to the plastic canister. It has a wide mouth opening which makes it easy to see any dirt.

Turn the vacuum over to check the beater brush. Remove the one screw in the upper right corner of the brush casing and slide the brush out of the casing. Remove any debris that may be wrapped or tangled around the brush. Place the brush back in the casing and replace and tighten the screw.
