How to Get Wireless TV on a PC

"Wireless TV" can describe two technology-related phenomenons. Wireless TV is television content that is streamed over the Internet. This term can also describe television sent from a device called a media extender to your computer. Regardless of which of these two types of wireless TV you're trying to access, you can get them both through a native Windows tool called Windows Media Center.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your "Start" menu. Regardless of whether the button in the lower-left corner of your desktop is labeled "Start" or has the "Windows" logo, it is still referred to as the "Start" menu by official Windows documentation.

    • 2

      Click "All Programs."

    • 3

Click "Windows Media Center." Some computers may put this icon in a sub-folder, like a "Windows Media" or "Windows" sub-folder.

    • 4

Click "TV" to view a list of the TV related categories you can choose from. If you're attempting to get wireless TV that is television content being streamed over the Internet, choose the "Internet TV" option. Click the "Real and Unscripted" option to view a selection of reality based shows available in Windows Media Center, and click on "Full Episodes" to see fiction shows like "MacGyver" or "Star Trek." Move your mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen to view the various sources you can get these shows from. Examples include "The CW" and "Netflix."

    • 5

Click "Tasks" and then "Add Extender." This will allow you to set up wireless TV that is being streamed to your device from a wireless extender like a Slingbox or HAVA Platinum HD. Once you have connected the extender to your copy of Windows Media Center, you will then be able to simultaneously view content on both your television set and on your PC via Windows Media Center.
