How to Disable the Power-Save Mode With a Scientific Atlanta DVR

The Scientific Atlanta Explorer Digital Video Recorder (DVR) allows you to record live television so that you can watch your favorite programs at later times. You can also record two live programs at one time, and the DVR includes the ability to watch a program while recording another one. If your DVR is turned on and no activity has occurred for two hours, then the device will go into power-save mode--which you can disable by removing the warning message, turning off your DVR or by contacting your cable provider.

Instructions

    • 1

Allow time for the "Power-Save Mode" message to appear on your screen at any time during viewing. The message warns you that your DVR will go into power-save mode in five minutes.

    • 2

Press any key on your DVR remote control to remove the warning message, and power-save mode won’t occur.

    • 3

Press any key on the front of your Scientific Atlanta DVR to remove the warning message when it appears, and the power-save mode won’t occur.

    • 4

Disable power-save mode completely by contacting your cable service provider. Ask a representative to permanently turn off the feature.

Tips & Warnings

  • Turn your Scientific Atlanta DVR off when you’re not using it to avoid going into power-save mode. Press the “CBL” button and then the “Power” button on your remote control.
