How to Replace the Heating Element in a Roper Dryer
Occasionally, the heating element on the Roper dryer will wear out or break, preventing the dryer from heating up. The Roper dryer uses a 27 inch heating element, located in the front of the dryer below the drum. Replacing the heating element in the Roper dryer is a job that can be done in about a half hour. You can replace the heating element yourself, saving you the time and money of calling a repairman to do the work for you. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug the power cord of the Roper dryer from the electrical outlet before replacing the heating element.

Slide a putty knife between the top lid and the dryer cabinet near the front of the driver. Lift up with the knife to detach the top lid from the plastic clips on the cabinet. Flip the top lid back so it sits against the wall on the rear hinges.

Locate the screws on the inside of the front panel near the top of the cabinet. Unfasten them with a screwdriver. Lift the front panel up off the metal clips at the base of the dryer cabinet in the front.

Unplug the door switch connector from the back of the front panel. Set the panel out of the way. Find the heating element below the dryer drum in the front of the dryer cabinet.

Unfasten the electrical wire connectors from the heating element by hand. Remove the screws that hold the heating element canister to the dryer cabinet with a screwdriver. Slide the canister out of the cabinet.

Remove the heating element from the canister by hand. Set it out of the way. Slide a new heating element into the canister. Attach the heating element canister to the dryer cabinet with screws.

Plug the electrical wire connectors into the heating element by hand. Attach the door switch connector to the back of the front panel by hand.

Slide the front panel onto the metal clips on the front of the dryer cabinet. Secure the top of the cabinet with screws. Flip the top lid back down over the plastic clips on the dryer cabinet. Press down to secure the top on the clips.

Plug the electrical cord of the Roper dryer into the electrical outlet.

Always unplug the power cord of the Roper dryer from the power supply before replacing the heating element.
