How to Paint a Door With a Roller
Painting a door with a roller can be faster than painting with a brush, and a roller won't leave brush marks The nap on a roller should be prepped before using, to avoid fuzz getting into the paint. If you know how to load a roller with paint and keep it wet throughout the painting process, it is a great way to paint a door quickly and professionally.
Things You'll Need
- Flat or hex-head screwdriver
- 2 sawhorses
- 1 qt. finish paint.
- 5-gallon bucket
- Paint roller screen
- Mini-roller with 1/4-inch mohair nap
- 9-inch roller frame
- 9-inch roller cover with 1/4-inch Mohair nap

Unscrew the hinge screws from the door jamb and remove the door from its frame, using a flat or hex-head screwdriver. Unscrew the hinge screws from the door and remove the hinges.

Lay the door over two sawhorses.

Pour the paint into the bucket. Hang the paint roller screen in the bucket. Wrap 2-inch masking tape around the roller naps and pull it off to remove all loose fuzz. Load the 9-inch roller with paint. Load the mini-roller with paint.

Paint the sides of the door with the mini-roller and paint the face of the door with the 9-inch roller. Load the roller with paint after every roller-width pass along the length of the door. Allow the door to dry completely.

Flip the door over and repeat step 4 for the other side. If the door isn't completely flat, use the mini-roller in the hard-to-reach areas.
