How to Plant Bamboo in Soil
Bamboo plants are often sold planted in vases filled with marbles or stones. Once you bring your bamboo home, one option is to replant it in soil to add variety to your yard or garden. Does this Spark an idea?

Prepare a hole for your bamboo. The bigger the hole, the better. Be sure it is at least twice as big around as its container, and at least two feet deep. This will give your bamboo room to grow.

Put potting soil in the bottom of the hole and firmly pack it down.

Remove your bamboo from its container gently and place it in the hole. Fill the hole with potting soil, remembering to firmly pack it.

Create a small mound around the edge of the freshly filled hole using the dirt you removed during Step 1.

Water your bamboo until the soil no longer absorbs more water, and repeat every few hours for the first day. After the first day, water the bamboo only when the soil becomes dry, or if the bamboo leaves begin to curl.

Tips & Warnings
If you will be fertilizing your bamboo, wait at least three weeks after planting it in soil.
