How to Convert HTML to PDF in Java

Internet Explorer (Microsoft Windows' native web browser) cannot inherently convert HTML-based web pages to the PDF file format. When you install Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, however, you have the ability to also install an Acrobat Toolbar for Internet Explorer. This Java-based add-on gives you the ability to save any web page that you're viewing in the PDF format, which you can then open in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Adobe's website for Adobe Acrobat Reader (see Resources) and download the Reader installation file onto your computer. Click on the "Download Now" link to download the installation file to your computer.

    • 2

Double-click the Adobe Reader installation file. Click "Next." When the option becomes available to you, click the box next to "Install Adobe Acrobat Toolbar." This toolbar must be installed to convert HTML web pages to PDF using Internet Explorer.

    • 3

Open Internet Explorer after the Reader toolbar has finished installing.

    • 4

Right-click on the HTML website you'd like to convert to PDF.

    • 5

Click "Convert Web Page to PDF." This will save an exact duplicate of the page you're browsing as a PDF document on your computer.
