How to Eliminate a New York Parking Violation
If you drive in New York City, you have probably dealt with parking tickets in the past. Parking violations in the Big Apple, along with the penalties, can add up quickly and become a huge mess if you are not diligent in dealing with them. Do not fret however, because the city has given drivers several options to eliminate parking violations.

Pay the fine that comes along with the parking violation. Launch your browser and go to the New York City "Pay the Parking Ticket" web page (see References). Click the "Pay Online" link and follow the prompts. You also can call (212) 505-4041 and pay the fine over the phone. In both cases, you will need the plate or ticket number.

Request a hearing regarding the violation. Launch your browser and go to the New York City "Dispute a Parking Ticket" web page (see References). Click the "NEW! Hearing by Web (online)" link. Follow the prompts. Keep in mind that you must request a hearing within 30 days of the date of the ticket to avoid penalties. You will need the ticket number to request a hearing.

Go on a payment plan to settle your outstanding tickets. Call (212) 440-5400 to set up an appointment with the finance collections division. You must owe at least $500 in judgments or at least $350 in judgments for towed vehicles. You must also have a valid driver's license, registration and insurance, source of income and make a down payment.
