How to Report Tax Abuse to the IRS
People should report suspected tax abuse. Tax abuse is a serious crime and hurts all Americans. The Internal Revenue Service allows people to easily report any abuse. A person can report abuse either using his name or reporting it anonymously. Depending on the situation, the IRS may offer a reward. Because tax abuse is a serious accusation, people should take reporting abuse seriously.

1
Gather as much information related to the tax abuse as possible. The IRS requests the name, address and tax identification number of the person you are reporting; a description of what they are doing; the years the abuse occurred; and an estimate of the unreported income due to the abuse.

Fill out Form 3949-A, which helps to summarize the information. This includes the tax information of the person or business you are reporting, the type of allegation you are reporting, if the taxpayer's books are available and if you think the taxpayer is dangerous. You will also need to write a description of the allegation. You do not have to fill out everything on the form, but you should make the form as complete as possible. At the bottom of the form is a space for your personal information. You do not need to provide your personal information, but if you do, the IRS will keep this information private. Alternatively, you may write a letter to the IRS using the same information.
