Traditional rag rugs are created from scraps of fabric, and are used to cover flooring. If you like the look of a rag rug, you can create a whimsical bracelet that resembles a handmade rag rug that you can wear for fun. To make a bracelet that resembles a traditional rag rug, it is important to follow a few steps that uses ordinary scraps of fabric braided in a similar manner as a rag rug used for the floor.

  • Fabric scraps
  • Scissors
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Safety pin

Instructions

    • 1

      Cut scrap fabric into three strips that are about 1/2 inch wide and 8 inches long.

      Pin the ends of one side of the strips together using a safety pin, leaving the other ends loose.

    • 3

      Hold the safety pin between your knees, or have a friend hold onto it.

    • 4

      Braid the strips together.

    • 5

      Pin the open ends together with a second safety pin.

    • 6

      Thread a needle. Sew the two pinned ends together to create a circle.

    • 7

      Remove the safety pins, then put on and wear your rag rug bracelet.
