How to Fix a Leaking Showerhead
A leaky showerhead can be costly as well as annoying. The dripping disturbs your peace, and the extra water used might not seem to be much, but it adds up. Household leaks account for trillions of gallons of water wasted yearly. The minor leak that is visible may be causing more damage to the floor and wall that you do not see. Things You'll Need
- Pipe wrench
- O-ring washers
- Masking tape
- Pipe sealer tape
- Vinegar and water solution
- Bowl

Wrap masking tape around the pipe going to the shower head. This will protect the pipe from damage. Take your pipe wrench and loosen the shower head, turning it to the left. As the fixture starts to loosen, use your hand to finish and remove the nozzle.

Mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar with 2 cups of water in a bowl. Place your shower head into the bowl of vinegar and water and allow it to soak for 15 minutes. Rinse the head in clean water.

Inside the removed head, check the O-ring washer for damage by assessing if there is dryness or if you see cracks. Take the O-ring out of the nozzle and compare the size to the replacements you have. The identical size is very important, so take your time to decide which size matches perfectly. When you have chosen the correct size, place the new washer inside the shower head.

Turn on the shower and check that the leak has been resolved.
