How to Make a Sachet Base
A sachet is a small, frequently disposable, bag that is filled with powdered or granulated materials. Some sachets are used to perfume clothing in drawers, others use larger materials and are used to add aroma to a room. A sachet can also contain food products or base ingredients for magic spell crafting, candle or soap making. The sachet bag should be porous enough for the contents' aroma to be released and tight enough to contain the sachet base granules or powder.

1
Place talcum (a fine-grained mineral) in a mortar (bowl) and add ingredients. Talcum is moisture absorbent and it can be used in everything from medical preparations to a magic sachet base.

2
Add healing or attracting ingredients such as rosemary, sage or lavender, chamomile, abramelin, ambergris and balm of Gilead depending on the objective of your sachet. A sachet used to perfume a clothes drawer should have ingredients selected to improve the well being, health and appearance of the owner as well as release a floral scent that is pleasing to that person. Grind the ingredients together with a pestle and fill a small semi-porous bag.

3
Choose wounding or rejecting ingredients such as: sulfur, vitriol, red pepper, black mustard, crushed glass, hair, metallic shavings, powdered bone, fingernails, insects, snails and snake skin and graveyard dirt to produce a goofer dust. This type of collection or recipe is traditional with hoodoo magical casting and the powder may be blown or dusted at a location or home of a person described as an enemy. This is intended to activate the removal of the person from the location such as through a sudden move.

4
Crush dried fruits, herbs, and minerals to release their natural essence. Ingredients with powerful odor-releasing characteristics are good choices for candles, soap and potpourri-type sachets. You may not need to use talcum powder for large-pore porous bags with scented leaves and crushed berries for potpourri.
