Sell your website on eBay.

Creating a website for the sole purpose of selling it on eBay may be a difficult task. Because people can outsource web design to so many countries, the market has much competition. A quick search for "website" on eBay brings up hundreds, if not thousands, of results at any given time. Making your website stand out in the multitude of websites for sale is not a simple task. You need to provide value to buyers--if they can't see how they will make money with your website, you might as well be listing a blank Web page.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a good domain name (for example, Google.com) for your website. Your domain name is one of the most important factors in the mind of eBay buyers. A good domain name on its own, without any website content, can be worth millions of dollars (like Cars.com). Your domain name must be relevant to the content that it provides. Try to keep it as short as possible, and use correctly spelled words.

    • 2

Create an aesthetically appealing design. An ugly website with amazing content may be devalued solely on its appearance. Make sure your design fits the topic of your website--a corporate-style website with flashing hot pink text is not appropriate. eBay shoppers are looking for quality product, and that means a presentable website.

Establish regular Web traffic for your site. A beautiful website with great content that receives no visitors may be worthless to eBay buyers. Without established Web traffic, the buyer may think that the website is unpopular or unwanted by Internet users. In addition, the buyer also knows that she will have to work on getting Web traffic herself. A good measure of Web traffic is Alexa rank. Alexa ranks websites based on the volume of traffic they get--for example, Google.com is rank number one. Go to the Alexa website, and search for your site to see how much traffic it gets.

Establish Google PageRank. PageRank is an almost universally accepted measure of "value" for websites. Google search engine ranks websites on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 is the highest value--Google.com is any example of a PageRank 10 website. There are less than a thousand PageRank 9 and 10 websites in existence. Each tier is worth exponentially less, though the exact value has not been released by Google. A PageRank of five or more is generally considered excellent by eBay buyers. Even a PageRank of one may add value to your website. You can look up your PageRank by using a PageRank checker, or you can use the Google Toolbar. To increase the PageRank of your site, get more well-ranked websites to link to your website. Also, provide good content. There is no surefire way to increase your PageRank--only Google knows for sure.

Create a detailed, professional eBay listing. Include all of the above information about your site. Be sure to include the domain name in your listing's title. Price your website reasonably--take a look at similar websites and price yours accordingly. Explain to buyers how your website can make them money. For example, tell them they can run advertisements or promote products on your website.
