Weed & Feed Directions

Weed & Feed Directions thumbnail
Weed and feed is meant to kill weeds while helping grass at the same time.

Weed and feed is a combination targeted herbicide and fertilizer. This formula contains a poison that is supposed to work only on weeds and a fertilizer that allows grass and bushes to grow faster and stronger. Applying weed and feed to your lawn isn't difficult to do, but it does take a little bit of preparation and maybe 40 minutes of your time, depending on the circumstances. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure that the grass is slightly damp. If not, give the lawn a light spray with the garden hose. The grass should be damp so that the weed and feed sticks to the plants and doesn't go flying all over the place.

    • 2

Set the gauge on your fertilizer spreader. There is a chart on the side of your weed and feed bag that will tell you what setting you should be on. The setting determines how much weed and feed the spreader will throw out at once.

    • 3

Load the hopper of your fertilizer with weed and feed. Walk the spreader over your lawn, paying careful attention to where the weed and feed is spread and where it isn't. You should walk your lawn in rows, carefully covering all applicable areas with the weed and feed.

    • 4

Brush the weed and feed off your driveway or any other concrete surfaces that it doesn't need to be on. Once your lawn is coated, give the weed and feed a few days to soak in before doing anything on your grass.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check the weather. There should be no rain forecast for at least 24 hours, and when you go out to spread the weed and feed there should be little to no wind. Wind will cause the weed and feed to blow away, potentially out of your lawn entirely.
