How to Apply Weather Stripping to Windows
Applying weather stripping around windows can save you money on your heating and cooling bill. Weather stripping comes in a variety of styles, including metal, tension seal and magnetic kinds. The cost of weather stripping is relatively cheap and it is not hard to install. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Window stripping
- Scissors
- Window cleaner
- Towel
- Hammer and nails (If applicable)

Open the window and clean off the edges and inside the bottom surface of the window using soapy water. Completely dry the area with a cloth or allow it to air dry.

Unroll the weather stripping and measure the inside of the window surface. Cut the amount of stripping needed to cover that area.

Remove the backing off the window stripping and firmly press it down inside the bottom of the window surface. Make sure that all the edges are firmly in place. If the weather stripping is not adhesive, gently nail the stripping into place.

Shut the window to secure the stripping in place. If the window does not shut, check the edges of the stripping to ensure that it is properly secured inside the window.
