How to Make Weights for Beaded Table Cloths

How to Make Weights for Beaded Table Clothsthumbnail
Use tablecloth weights to keep your tablecloth from blowing upward.

Beaded weights will hold down a beaded tablecloth on the windiest days. They prevent your drinks and plates from tipping over when a wind gust lifts the edge of your cloth. You can choose beads that match your beaded tablecloth for an elegant look, or you can make weights that will coordinate with even the most casual cloths. Attach a clip-on weight every 2 feet, along the hem of your cloth, to be sure it is weighed down.

    Things You'll Need

    • Alligator clips
    • Clear monofilament line
    • Scissors
    • Beads
    • Glue
      • 1

Tie monofilament line to the alligator clip. Leave 1/4 inch of line sticking out from the knot to prevent the end from pulling loose. Secure the knot with a drop of glue.

Thread an inch of small beads onto the line, and then thread several large heavy beads onto the line. Use 1/2 to 1 inch glass beads for best results.

Finish the weight by tying on a 1/4-inch bead to hold the large beads on. Leave 1/4 inch of line sticking out from the knot to prevent the end from pulling loose. Secure the knot with a drop of glue.
