It's important to check each Capital One statement thoroughly to ensure all charges and fees are correct. It's your responsibility -- as written in your account agreement -- to let Capital One know of any errors. Otherwise, the company assumes the statement is correct. If you have a dispute, contact Capital One as soon as possible. If you're disputing a charge because you think it's fraudulent, contact Capital One at 1-800-227-4825.

Disputing a Charge

You can dispute a charge by filling out an online form. Go to your account, then access the "Customer Service" tab. Click on "Dispute a Charge" and fill out the form. Alternatively, you can write a letter describing the nature of the dispute, including the merchant and monetary amount, your name, address and account number. Send the letter to: Capital One, Attention: Disputes, P.O. Box 30279, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0279. Fax your dispute letter to 1-888-435-4217 or call Capital One customer service at 1-800-227-4825. Generally, a decision in the dispute is made within three months.
