Use a razor blade to help remove tape residue.

3M double-sided tape forms a strong bond on all sorts of surfaces. It is commonly used to attach car accessories, hang pictures, make craft projects, and forms an almost permanent bond. The tape is difficult to remove, and often leaves a sticky residue behind. However, with a little determination and the right technique, 3M double-sided tape can be removed cleanly from most surfaces. Use extra care when removing the tape from delicate painted areas.

Step 1

Use a heat gun or blow dryer to warm the surfaces that are taped together. This will loosen the bond of the tape. Heat just until the surface is hot to the touch.

Step 2

Carefully pull the taped surfaces apart. Attempt to remove the tape by grasping the edge of it with your fingers and pulling away from the surface. Remove as much tape as possible using this method.
