How to Hide Ear Gauges

Body modifications, including ear gauges, are increasingly popular ways to express your personality and style in a very visible way. Gauging one's ears is a long process involving the slow stretching of a small hole in the ear lobe to larger and larger sizes. Once stretched, the hole remains, whether it has jewelry in it or not. Although you cannot get rid of a hole, hiding ear gauges is relatively easily to do.

Instructions

Unobtrusive Retainers

1. Remove decorative jewelry from the stretched hole.

2. Purchase flesh-colored plugs or clear plastic hole protectors, also called retainers, in the appropriate size for your gauged ears.

3. Put the new plugs or hole protectors into your ears. These less-noticeable pieces of jewelry will draw less attention to your ear gauges.

Long Hair

1. Remove decorative jewelry from the stretched hole.

2. Allow your hair to grow past the bottom of your ears.

3. When styling your hair, pull pieces forward so that they hang in front of your ears. Your ear gauges will be less noticeable when mostly covered by hair.
