Your hard drives prongs are the jumpers used to determine the master-slave configuration. The master-slave configuration determines which drive is considered primary and which drives are considered secondary by your computer. If you would like to change your master-slave configuration, you will need to replace the jumper to change your configuration. Replacing a hard drive jumper can be accomplished in about 10 minutes.
