Homemade Mold Remover
Molds are fungi that are found almost everywhere. They reproduce by releasing tiny toxic spores in the air. When mold spores land on a damp surface they can thrive and begin to grow mold. Mold spores are easily inhaled through the lungs and can cause respiratory problems and other illnesses. Vinegar is a natural mold remover. It’s a mild acid and a natural fungicide that will effectively kill mold. It’s also safe, inexpensive and environmentally friendly. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Protective eye goggles
- Face mask
- Rubber gloves
- White distilled vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Damp cloth
- Paper towels

Protect yourself from inhaling or touching mold or mold spores. Put on protective eye wear, a face mask and rubber gloves.

Mist moldy areas with water before cleaning. Mold spores will have a better chance of becoming airborne during the cleaning process if they are dry.

Pour some undiluted white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray vinegar onto mold infested surfaces, and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

Wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth, and dry with some paper towels. Remove protective clothing.

Tips & Warnings
Vinegar is non-toxic, but it does emit a strong odor. Open up as many windows and doors as possible to ensure proper ventilation while cleaning with vinegar.
Use the vinegar spray every few days on mold-susceptible surfaces to prevent mold from forming.
Prevent mold from forming in your home by controlling moisture and ventilation. Repair leaky pipes faucets or water leaks immediately. Make sure your home is well ventilated by using exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathrooms. Open windows often to circulate fresh air.
