How to Wash Faux Wood Blinds
Blinds are an affordable and convenient way to provide privacy and control light and heat levels in your home. Because of how well they blend into your home decor, however, it's likely you don't give much thought or attention to maintaining or cleaning your blinds. Different types of blinds require different cleaning techniques. If you have faux wood blinds, follow these steps to wash them safely and effectively. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Duster
- Tank vacuum with brush attachment
- Soft cloth
- Blind cleaner or mild cleaning solution

Twist the adjustment handle on the blinds until your faux wood blinds are in the open position, horizontal to the window sill.

Dust the faux wood blinds with a feather duster, synthetic duster or dusting cloth to remove loose dirt particles.

Suck up any remaining dirt and dust with the tank vacuum and a brush attachment.

Wet the soft cloth with warm water and the blind cleaner or mild cleaning solution.

Wipe the wet cloth across the top and bottom surface of each slat on the faux wood blinds. Rinse the cloth between each slat.

Repeat until all slats of the faux wood blinds have been cleaned.

Wipe down the adjustment handle.

Rinse the cloth thoroughly to remove all cleaner. Wipe down the blinds with the clean, wet cloth to remove any residue left by the solution.

Allow the blinds to dry completely before returning the slats of the faux wood blinds to a closed position.

Tips & Warnings
Heavy cleaning can be avoided by dusting your faux wood blinds on a regular basis.
You can spot-clean your blinds, but this may result in an inconsistent appearance.
Do not use the immersion method to clean faux wood blinds. Direct exposure to water can cause warping and damage to the finish.
Do not use hot water to clean your blinds.
