How to Attach Round Rings on a Curtain

How to Attach Round Rings on a Curtainthumbnail
Round curtain rings contribute to the character of your window setting.

Round curtain rings are available in an array of colors and styles. You can buy bright plastic rings for a child’s room, or you can buy metal rings with an antique look for a formal setting, such as a living or dining room. Since using rings to hang your curtains leaves the pole or rod exposed, it’s important to choose a stylish curtain rod to match your décor, as well as ensure the rings are correctly attached.

    • Round curtain rings
    • Measuring tape
    • Pins
      • 1

Determine the style of your curtain rings. Round curtain rings are available in two different styles. One style has a clip that clips onto the curtain; the other has a hook. The latter is used for curtains with eyelets.

      • 2

Lay the curtain on the bed or other flat surface.

      • 3

Measure the curtain’s top width. Divide the curtain’s width measurement by the number of inches you want between each ring. For instance, if the curtain is 64 inches wide and you want the rings 8 inches apart, divide 64 inches by 8 inches. You will need to attach eight round rings to the curtain.

Start measuring from one top end of the curtain to the other end. Pin the area where you want each ring to clip to the curtain. The pins should be evenly spaced. Clip a round ring onto each marked spot on the curtain.

Hook a round ring through each eyelet if you’re using the rings with hooks.

      • 6

Run the curtain rod through all the rings. Place the curtain rod onto its brackets on the window.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If you purchase the rings separately, ensure the curtain rings match the curtain rod.
